Students urged to take up training opportunities
Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch is urging local schools, students, and parents to take advantage of the school-based apprenticeships and traineeships available for Year 10, 11 and 12 high school students.
"These offer students an opportunity to begin experience in a chosen career choice while they finish their HSC - combining paid work, training, and school," she said.
She said the training opportunities had been expanded under the Educational Pathways Program.
Participating schools were provided with engagement officers to support students by offering tailored assistance.
"These officers also ensure students have access to a wide range of vocational opportunities.
"The program ends with an industry recognised national qualification which is credited towards the HSC."
Both Woy Woy and Umina campuses of Brisbane Water Secondary College had taken advantage of the program.
Ms Tesch said she believed the prosperity of vocational institutions was imperative to the future of NSW, and it was crucial to continue to provide a strong TAFE for students, families and workplaces across NSW.
